The City of Rockford Pipe Band
maintains an active school of Piping and Drumming under the direction of
Pipe Major Bob Gough. P/M Gough completed his early Piping tuition in 1968
under Pipe Major Samuel Bogle, Montgomery County Highlanders in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Piping and Drumming School is
supplemented by top-notch instruction from
Adrian Melvin, piper (Midlothian Pipe Band),
Jack Cox, drummer (Midlothian Pipe Band)
and by participation in camps and workshops.
The school is structured along
traditional lines, at the heart of which is a system of one to one or
small group instruction. All band members participate in the school as
learners and instructors.
The majority of the award winning City of
Rockford Pipe Band are "graduates" from our school and
continue to grow as pipers and drummers through experience and
competition.
As of January 2006 the school has been recognized by Rock Valley College
and offers its classes at the
Bell School Road Center - 3350
Bell School Road Rockford, Illinois.
